Hello, I don't know if this is the best venue to discuss this, but I'm having trouble getting distcc to distribute, and I'd appreciate your help/suggestions.
I've used distcc with much success on Linux distributions (Gentoo, Debian, Ubuntu). I've successfully compiled packages that are using distcc on a PowerPC Mac via fink, but I can't get the client machine to distribute to more than 1 host. No matter what order I have the HOSTS in distcc.conf, the client machine will only use the first HOST for compiling, and will not do any compiling itself: Thus localhost is ignored too, and the client ends up just configuring and sending compile job to a single machine. I've got a whole compile farm of PowerPC machines I'd like to use to compile Fink packages. Do you know what I'm doing wrong? Here are some more details: CPU: PowerPC on all machines OSX 10.5.8 on all machines Fink Package manager version: 0.29.13 on all machines Distribution version: selfupdate-rsync Mon Sep 6 19:54:12 2010, 10.5, powerpc (on all machines) /sw/lib/perl5/Fink/PkgVersion.pm line regarding MAKEFLAGS uncommented, per Ranger Rick's web instructions (on all machines) I've got MAKEFLAGS=-j7 set in /sw/etc/distcc.conf on all machines Is there something I'm missing? Are there only certain packages that can utilize distributed compiling in Fink? How can I locate such packages so I can test them with my setup to see if it's working? What keywords should I look for in the .info file for a package to determine if it's distributable or not? Do you know of a shell incantation or perhaps a perl script that will look at all the .info files in Fink and report the ones that have the appropriate options set for distributed compiling?
