<snip> You can move a Fink tree from a PowerPC to an Intel box, and executables may run, but you'll never be able to update it any further that way, because the architectures don't match. You're better off capturing a list of your installed packages in a text file, moving _that_ to your new machine, and then installing the packages from that file as per http://finkers.wordpress.com/2009/08/31/starting-anew/ - -- Alexander Hansen Fink User Liaison -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.10 (Darwin) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iEYEARECAAYFAkygmSoACgkQB8UpO3rKjQ/6wgCbBseIKlW3jK5Xw4HA8bxc995n b5wAn1NNcEUkgyFpqDf1jJpVE5YQ+1IM =m5Mh -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Start uncovering the many advantages of virtual appliances and start using them to simplify application deployment and accelerate your shift to cloud computing. http://p.sf.net/sfu/novell-sfdev2dev _______________________________________________ Fink-users mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/fink-users
