That's apparently known (not just in the fink world, according to Google) to happen "sometimes". The technical cause appears to be some cache or shared memory getting out of sync among threads, but no clear solution to the actual problem. OTOH, it does succeed "sometimes" as well (reported failures are of the same command but operating on various different files). For me, the whole package succeeded 5 of 8 times I tried it.
