Übergeek, fink builds are easily contaminated by foreign header files and others in /usr/local. In this particular case, the relevant part starts with "fink-package-precedence --prohibit-bdep=libxml2 ." on line 1402. The first fourteen hundred lines are normal output of a build. Also, you mention irssi in the subject line, but libxml2 is the actual package that failed to build. Having the problematic package name in the subject line ensures that the maintainer of that package really reads your email.
