Do you start paw or pawX11? The former wraps the call to pawX11 with 
disableASLR which disables the address space layout randomization (c.f. 
http://roaringcats.blogspot.ch/2011/09/disable-aslr-on-lion.html). This should 
solve the problem you're seeing.
