Hello. I’ve found an error with Emacs app I have some trouble to find the solution to and I fail to find anything on the web about this, if this is a known problem, please point me to the description and I’ll see what I can do to correct it - if this really is a problem for anyone but me!
I use Emacs app (emacs23-app, 23.4-2) and when I try to open a file (C-x C-f, find-file) I am presented with / as the start directory instead of ~. This is not (from what I can tell) due to a change in Emacs but related to the combination of Emacs and Mavericks. I used Emacs 23.4.1 under Mountain Lion without problem for quite some time, then I upgraded to Mavericks without updating Fink. I then saw the problem with C-x C-f starting in / when the current buffer was *scratch* upon startup, this is without change of binary. I then updated fink from scratch and found out that my new Emacs also behaved in this way. Obviously something changed in the OS that made Emacs change its behaviour and I am baffled at trying to find a solution to this annoying problem. Anyone that has seen anything similar or heard about it? I am quite good at finding my ways around Emacs, but it doesn’t help when I don’t even know where to start - all my excursions has so far ended in dead ends. How I reproduce the error: 1. Start Emacs 2. Press C-x C-f (current buffer is then *scratch*, the splash screen is turned off) Works every time. Any suggestions? I am not convinced that this is a Fink issue, but I hope there is someone else here that has observed the issue?
