A quick option for folks to test is to add the following block to
ddd.info, for example below the PatchFile line:
PatchScript: <<
%{default_script}
perl -pi -e 's/(VSLLib::eval_error.*s)(.*)/\1.str().c_str()\2/'
ddd/VSLDefList.c
<<
(the second command should be on one line). This built and ran for me.
