You didn't specify your system information, but I'll assume that you're 
on 10.6 here because there was a previous report on this list of the 
same problem.

This has been fixed in maxima-5.32.0-2, which installs a newer version 
of texinfo which just got added for 10.6 a few moments ago.  You should 
be able to install this version after a selfupdate shortly.
