"dpkg -S <FILE>" tells you what *installed* package provides a specific
file, but won't help if you're trying to figure out what package to
install to get a file.

The Fink website has a file search function that will tell you the package
that provides a file, *iff* the package is currently present in the
official binary distributions (that's the database that is searched).
