Now, I got past the previous error but I'm stuck with

Failed: Can't call method "is_installed" on an undefined value at
/sw/lib/perl5/Fink/SelfUpdate.pm line 288.
let me know if I can turn on any further debugging info in order to ease
spotting the problems as they appear...
