Well, like I said, fink only knows about the version of /usr/bin/perl 
and doesn't hardcode it.

Verify that you're checking the version on the proper machine if you're 
working remotely via ssh -- it has been the case a few times that 
someone reported the information from the wrong machine by accident.

Otherwise, try "fink install fink-0.38.1", which I can verify definitely 
returns the right version of system-perl on Yosemite.
