I don’t reproduce this on my own Yosemite box, which is a bit disquieting.  My 
emacs24 was built on my machine rather than from the binary distribution, so 
maybe try “fink rebuild emacs24” (the fink command doesn’t normally need you to 
use “sudo”) and then try to install auctex again.
