No, that will most likely get you back to exactly the same place and waste your
time in the process. Reinstalling Fink from scratch normally only helps in
situations where there has been linkage to third-party libraries, and there’s
no reason to expect that here.

My guess is that what did it is the update from gnuplot-4.6.6 to gnuplot-5.0.0,
rather than your OS update, because I noticed a lot more noise in the
emacs-related portion of the installation at that time.
