I can’t really puzzle it out based on what you’ve posted, though I can tell you that editing revisions to work around a versioned dependency usually ends badly, since there’s generally a reason for the versioning. What issue are you trying to work around, exactly? Are you unable to selfupdate? What OS version are you using?
