It’s because we are unpaid volunteers, and updating the hand-built website to remove accurate but outdated information is time-consuming. I haven’t looked at the page you’re referencing in a while, and it needs to be updated, but the Quick Start section was really designed to be to help people use a binary installer, and we haven’t done one of those since *10.5*. Note that item 1 on the page says for people on 10.6 and later _not_ to follow those instructions. For the first few years of Fink, the “fink” tool ONLY dealt with source installs, and it was necessary to use the “apt-get” tool to interface with the binary distribution. We later added the ability for “fink” to run “apt-get” to work with the binary distribution. -- Alexander Hansen, Ph.D. Fink User Liaison ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ _______________________________________________ Fink-users mailing list Fink-users@lists.sourceforge.net List archive: http://news.gmane.org/gmane.os.macosx.fink.user Subscription management: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/fink-users
