I’d be curious as to where this took you—maybe I’ll set up a virtual machine
and take a look. That’s not something that we control, since it comes straight
from Apple, but we can at least point people at a JDK.
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html is the
standard gateway to download Java, and it does have a JDK download link.

Apple stopped providing new Java releases as of 10.7, though they do have a
legacy package that some applications still need:

They never used the term “JDK”.

I’m assuming that this machine was also updated to a new OS, since you can’t
even bootstrap without a Java runtime because of libiconv.
Get the Oracle 1.8u73 or 1.8u74 JDK (I’m honestly not sure why to prefer one to
the other) from
