Spherical coordinates would be an excellent enhancement for phase field
simulations.
Application in phase field modeling would include phase growth from the
sphere surface in to the center of the sphere (or dissolving back toward
the sphere surface), and the growth of a finite nucleus in the center of
the sphere (or dissolution of a spherical precipitate).
