Dear Daniel I install XP on laptop and I tryed to install FiPy, I think it is my problem not the problem of vista for i got he same problme as in vista. I follow steps on pages 19-20 of the manuel of fipy ''windows installation'' every is running, buT i still have problem with the main module ''fipy'' these are the steps i follow from the manuel:
step 1: install python I went to link you sent me I download enought.python2.5.2 and installed it I moved vtkRenderingPythonTkwidgets.dll from C:\ptyhon25\Lib\site-packages\..\vtk-python to C:\Python25\directory. I dont if this is necessary for enougth.python2.5.2 what is a directory? step2: install PyVTK I install it without any problem step3:install Pysparse I installed it without problem step4: install FiPy I install install it without problem step5:install Matplotlib I installed it without problem step6:install Gmesh I downloand it , unpacked it and I cut and paste gmsh.exe in C:\Python25 step7:Run IDLE I did every thing here, but i did not see where to add the -n option to Tagert. step8: Import a module and view the results I got trouble here, when tryed C:\path\To\Base\FiPy\directory\examples\diffusion\steadyState\mesh50x50\input.py what is path,To,Base? I did not see them after all these installations where should I install FiPy.exe? I typed these line in IDEL >>> nx=50 >>>dx=1.0 >>> from fipy.meshes.grid1D import Grid1D I got this error no mudule name Numeric but in the installation steps there no where it asks to install Numeric packages when i installe this packages i get another error no module name spmatrix When I tryed this command >>> import fipy error no module name Numeric. I have downloaded every thing related to enought.python2.5.2 I need esay steps to install them and import fipy without error. Thanks.
