I had a similar problem with the "viewer" in Ubuntu Linux, but after a few 
gyrations
I finally managed to solve the problem (after installing gist from the tarball 
-- there's
no Pygist for Ubuntu, apparently).  Not sure what to suggest in your case, 
though.

For those who don't know me I'm a novice to both CFD and Fipy (and to this list 
as
well  ;-) ). I finished a CFD grad course last December and now I possess a 
broader
picture of what CFD is all about; its importance, applications, methods and 
gaps yet
to be filled.  I have lots yet to learn, however.  Lots.  Hopefully in the 
future I'll be able
to give a better contribution to the ones who subscribe to this list, and to 
FiPy as well.

My field of study (and work) is 2-phase flow of liquid and gas in pipes.
