I use fipy on Ubuntu, but I have never tried to install the .deb version.

It sounds like you have all the prerequisites. Either use "pip" (which you
may have to install as "python-pip" via apt-get) or download the source and
install that directly: http://www.ctcms.nist.gov/fipy/INSTALLATION.html

It is not necessary to formally install *FiPy*
<http://www.ctcms.nist.gov/fipy/documentation/glossary.html#term-fipy>, but
if you wish to do so and you are confident that all of the requisite
packages have been installed properly, you can install it by typing:

$ pip install fipy

 or by unpacking the archive and typing:

$ python setup.py install

 at the command line in the base *FiPy*
<http://www.ctcms.nist.gov/fipy/documentation/glossary.html#term-fipy>
directory.
