Haven't missed too much. It's the holidays, and as a result
everything is in a sort of lul, but overall all that you've missed is some
basic discussion on features (eg, how things work best), interface ideas,
etc.. A lot of the things you mentioned, though, (to make a more relavent
comment here ^_- ) are problems on the server-side, eg, things that Fire
most likely won't be able to do anytime soon.
To be more specific, file transfer works differently in different
protocols, but basically both ICQ and AIM won't get it for a very long
while (if even that, since AOL has not released the specs for file
transfer), same for MSN. IRC and Jabber I'd assume would get it
eventually since they are open protocols, however, implementing them into
the structure of the Fire code make it anyone's guess as to when they'd be
implemented. In Yahoo you can currently receive files, but can't send
them.
In the most recent version of Fire (the pre-release 0.29a), Fire has
offline messages. 0.29a hasn't had a full public release, and it was
linked to in the mailing list (I can't remember the address off hand) for
testing purposes. I'm sure someone could pass on a link to you.
For the connection dropping in Yahoo, the problem is a well known bug
in the Yahoo servers. They recently updated their protocol, which is
still a tad bit buggy, and they've had a little trouble implementing it
all. (I think I got that all right on Yahoo).
I hope that helps a bit. (and I think I'll finally start a FAQ now too,
if no one else has started one)
