Greetings...
I am having some inconsistent issues connecting to AIM with Fire 0.29b.
Today it seems to take about 2 minutes to decide whether or not it's going
to connect (normally it connects within about 15 seconds), and then it
decides it's not going to connect...
why? Well it gives me a message saying:
"AIM Warning. You have been blocked. Maybe you've been signing on too
often/too fast."
I click OK to that and find that the same message is behind it. I move the
message(s) around and find that it's actually popped about 20 dialog boxes
one on top of the other all saying the same message.
Behind all those is one more message, saying:
"AIM Warning: Unknown Error. This is generally caused by a slow or
unreachable toc network at AOL. Please try again in"
Yes that's the end of the message. (It is obviously an incomplete message).
All this has happened once or twice before for me but it's rare.
Just to see if the problem is AIM or Fire, I've tried to connect with the
Latest (4.5.494) version of AIM for OSX and have had varied success over the
last hour or so. At one point (after I hadn't tried to connect with AIM or
Fire) it did connect. But at most points it told me:
"You have signed on too many times in a short period of time. Please wait a
few minutes and try to sign on again."
It seems to me that the problem is that Fire in trying to connect, is
actually connecting and disconnecting 20 times in a couple of minutes and
thus confusing the hell out of the AIM network.
All this is jolly irritating.
Am I doing something wrong or have I found an unusual bug?
Cheers,
David.
