I know it's been ruled against in the past, but figuring out a way to
connect through various types of proxy-servers and protocols would totally
rule.

For example, for me, the only way I can connect to AIM from work is to use
their "officially brain-damaged" client (because it can connect using HTTPS
through our Proxy Server, blah...)

If it's possible to do this, individual accounts could be made
Location-Manager aware. For example, some sort of check-box list for each
account for the auto-connect feature, for example:

    Auto-Connect at these locations:
    [ ] Dialup - San Francisco
    [ ] Dialup - West Los Angeles
    [x] Home Network
    [ ] Work
    [x] WrxNet

This way, a user can assign Accounts "A" and "B" to auto-connect while at
Home or "WrxNet" (an example for another LAN), but not while at "Work".
Account "C" could be configured for the office FireWall/Proxy Server and its
Auto-Connect "profile" would be checked for "Work" only, since the proxy
settings wouldn't be valid in any other place

Just some thoughts! :)

rY.

PS: If Fire were to do something like this, it would be one of the FEW MacOS
X apps to really take advantage of the Location Manager.. So far *NO* web
browsers seem to FULLY support locations (for example, Explorer changes its
HTTP settings but *not* the HTTPS settings when you change locations.)
