I've always kind of wondered why fire doesn't have an activity monitor.

Here's a vision: Instead of just freezing up the program (that is...when 
one signs on to various services), we should see nice little revolving 
arrows.  When you click these revolving arrows a little window that 
shows the progress of each sign-on (or sign-off) could pop up.  (For an 
example, look at Mail.app).

Of course I have no idea where you could fit one of these little 
revolving arrows, it would only add clutter to the nice buddy list.
