Title: MSN not connecting :(
I checked on the list and noticed that one person had at one time a similar issue I have now...but not exactly the same.

Here’s my scenario.

I’ve been using Fire without issue on my Linksys cable/dsl router for a while, but just recently had to switch to a FreeBSD 4.5 box running natd for my NAT. All of a sudden MSN no longer connects in Fire. MSN Messenger 3.0 and 2.1 work just fine – as does Trillian and MSN on Windows. Plus all the other protocols work and I have no issues with anything else.

The firewall is set to open with no restrictions at this time.

Now I’m not 100% certain its the new natd setup as the MSN .net status page does say that there are login issues – but its strange to me that it works in Trillian and MSN – but not Fire.

So – I’m hoping that others may have some thoughts, directions, or ideas as to what I could do to pinpoint and fix the problem. Putting the linksys box back online is unfortunately not an option. I’m also not hot on the idea of a proxy – though I’ll do that if that’s the only good method. In that case, what proxy would you recommend running on the FreeBSD server? I’m really not wanting a proxy as this server I don’t want to be running processes that will use up the CPU/memory/disk too much.

And TIA.
