I've been having some weird problems with Fire for the past two versions,
first with MSN (v3.0b) and now with AIM (3.1a).

I use Fire on two machines, a TiBook at work and a G4/800 DP at home.
Both are running similar configurations (OS X.i.v, etc...).

With the last version, I could not connect to MSN from my work machine
via Fire, although the official MSN client and Proteus worked fine. Fire
would just reconnect over and over and then drop the connection
(behaviour consistent with a failed login attempt). After installing the
OS X 10.1.5 update, I magically regained my ability to connect to MSN,
and this has remained the case since upgrading to 3.1a. I never had any
trouble with MSN from home.

I then upgraded my home computer to 3.1a, and everything was working fine
for a few hours. Following a reboot, though, I can't connect to AIM
anymore. (Yes, I know it was down last night.) When I log in, I get an
"invalid user name or password" error, followed by a constant stream of
errors as, apparently, Fire continues to try to connect, ultimately
resulting in my getting blocked for a few minutes. (Feature request:
Please make it only connect once!)

Stranger still, I CAN connect to AIM using Adium (at the same server that
Fire is using) or AIM Express (the web version of AIM), so I _know_ it
isn't really a bad user name or password. I have also tried changing AIM
servers in Fire by editing the accounts.plist file, to no avail. I have
run DiskWarrior on my computer to try to fix some errors, and also have
fsck'd things and did an update_prebinding just to be safe. None of these
things helped.

Given that the 10.1.5 update fixed similar behavior in MSN, I can't shake
the feeling that there's some sort of preference that needs to get
replaced or some other odd OS X juju -- I just can't seem to track it
down. Regardless, Fire is the only application which is having trouble,
so I'm inclined to see it as a Fire difficulty, but what do I know?

Any help would be much appreciated. Sorry for the length of this post.
