It all depends on your perspective.  I don't believe that Fire is 
dead (I love the amount of active development that it enjoys) - 
however I use Fire primarily as a Yahoo client - and for me Fire is 
currently dead.  I have no idea how to tinker with code.

In order to converse with my family and friends, I have to use the 
official Yahoo client or Proteus anyway.
