To keep spam down, only e-mail addresses that are subscribed to
this list may be used to post to it. Ah, you say, but I'm getting
messages from the list, so I must be subscribed -- why am I not allowed
to post?
The answer is that some people have multiple e-mail addresses.
For a while, for instance, I had the addresses "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" and
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]". The first address was my public address,
which I thought of as my main address. But all my e-mail in fact had
the second address as the return address. If I had just been subscribed
as "[EMAIL PROTECTED]", but posted from "[EMAIL PROTECTED]",
I'd have gotten the same error message.
So what to do when this happens to you?
1. Go to the Web page for this list,
http://lists.ucla.edu/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/firearmsregprof . (You
do have it bookmarked, don't you?)
2. Enter your e-mail address, click on "Unsubscribe or edit
options," and then use the forms under "Changing your Firearmsregprof
membership information."
3. If you sometimes post from one address and sometimes from
another -- and incoming mail forwards from one to the other -- you can
subscribe from both (or even more than two), and then set all but one to
mail delivery disabled.
There's no need for the list custodian to get involved in this
-- each of you can take care of this yourself.
Thanks, and please save the message for future reference, unless
you're already familiar with this process.
