With Nebraska's new CCW system taking effect January 1, we're starting to see no-CCW signs in some businesses and the state bar association's latest magazine had to articles, each oriented at helping businesses ban weapons. Neither of them had any apparent analysis of how to make the decision whether to ban or what factors might come into play.
Anyone know of any learned articles, analyses, or court cases that treat this question? When other states were involved I vaguely recall some question whether providing a target-rich environment for the "bad" guys by prohibiting weapons might actually cause greater liability. Similarly, there was some indication that prohbiting weapons might cause a loss of customer base beyond that which might be "tolerable," however that could be measured. Anyway, if anyone knows of any broad-based discussion of the question of whether to ban, please let me know. -- Michael H.
