A Gun Facts reader in Argentina emailed me with two tough questions, which I

A) Aside from Lott and Landes 'Multiple Victim Public Shootings' are there any other studies that attempted to measure the negative impact of 'gun free
zones'?

Not so much a study as a realization that if you catalog all the venues of "celebrated" mass shootings and spree shootings, you will be hard pressed to find even one that did NOT occur in a "gun-free zone."

B) My reader recalls once encountering a detailed list of school/ college
shootings that included a victim list, casualty list and a review of
shootings aborted by armed students/teachers/bystanders (this would be an
amazing resource). Has anyone else encountered this?

There is a "canonical list" of three school-related shootings that were aborted by armed civilians:

Pearl (MS) High School, September, 1997: two killed, seven wounded; also stabbed mother to death. Incident was stopped by armed principal.

Parker Middle School dance, Edinboro PA, 1998; one killed, two wounded. Incident was stopped by armed party venue owner.

Appalachian School of Law, Grundy VA, 2002; three killed, three wounded. Incident was stopped by a team of three students, one armed.

If you want to include church shootings, the New Life Church in Colorado Springs in 2007; two killed, one wounded. Incident was stopped by an armed civilian volunteer.

A somewhat aged list of "other" school shootings follows. Many of these seem more like grudge shootings than spree shootings. The well- known ones (Columbine, Virginia Tech, Ecole Polytechnique, Thurston High (OR)) had generally much more severe casualty counts.
