Most of the fake guns we use for firearms training are solid rubber/plastic. I know of none that have functioning parts and simply don't fire. Closest you might come are the guns that shoot the plastic little balls.

When we demonstrate loading/unloading, mag changes, etc, we use real guns with plastic training ammo (usually bright orange or yellow plastic or brass/plastic ammo, or Snap-Caps that are painted a dull red. Easily distinguishable from real ammo). Guns always pointed in a safe direction, one that will stop a live round with no harm to sentient creatures.

Folks: I wanted to get some brightly colored imitation guns – the bright color is required by California law – so that I could show them at some talks I’m giving. The ASP Red Guns look interesting, but I can’t figure out from the descriptions whether they have working slides, removable magazines, and the like. I don’t much care about the particular model that’s being imitated; if possible, I’d just like to get a revolver, a semiautomatic handgun, a rifle, and a shotgun. Any suggestions? Many thanks,

Eugene
