In 2009 the US rate of murder and non-negligent manslaughter reached the new 20
year low according to the FBI table at
http://www2.fbi.gov/ucr/cius2009/data/table_01.html. Of course, the FBI has a
record of overestimating murders by including about 10% or so of the total
which are determined to be self-defense by courts, etc.
According to the table at http://www2.fbi.gov/ucr/cius2009/data/table_20.html,
the number of murders (with the usual over estimate) using firearms in 2009 was
9,146 total for the 50 states and DC. This number averages 25 a day, not the
linked articles 34. The number of murders per day averages 37 which means
about 12 are killed per day by using means other than firearms. I guess that
the Joyce people don't really care about these other murders.
Vermont had 7 murders in 2009, but none had firearms as the means despite some
of the least restrictive laws controling firearms. Next door Massachusetts had
55% of its 169 murders using firearms despite some of the most restrictive laws
controlling firearms.
While Joyce is acting as is its nature (making hay while the sun shines),
pointing out its slimy behavior will be missed by the media and most duffus
people who believe this articles tripe. A healthy dose of facts is the best
antidote to their garbage.
