I am uncertain what this "whole Constitution pledge" is all about, having never heard the idea before, but since this comes from my alma mater and is called "The Volokh Conspiracy" I thought I'd send it for discussion. (My alma mater is not exactly rated as a first rate law school but I think it is very under-rated, anyway. Sadly, it was founded by a first rate genius, Dean Alfred Avins, who was about as perfect a conservative legal scholar as one could ever hope to find. See _Katzenbach v Morgan_, http://174.123.24.242/leagle/xmlResult.aspx?xmldoc=19661025384US641_1950.xml&docbase=CSLWAR1-1950-1985, among many other places where his extremely erudite and well reasoned conservative understanding of the law (dozens of law review articles) were exhibited. Some would say fanatically conservative......

Further, however, I thought i would draw your attention to the new textbook/law book on the Second Amendment:

Very early next year--in time for 2d semester classes in the 2011-12 academic year--Aspen Publishers will publish the first law school textbook on the the Second Amendment. The title is /Firearms Law and the Second Amendment: Regulation, Rights, and Policy/. The co-authors are Nicholas Johnson (Fordham), Michael O'Shea (Oklahoma City), George Mocsary (Connecticut), and me.
I don't know of the authors but thought some of y'all might have comments.
