Folks: A brief reminder: This is a list aimed at academic discussions of
the law and policy of firearms regulation. Its goal is to help inform
scholars who are working in the field. As to constitutional law, this
presupposes a knowledge of modern constitutional law, and a certain
structure to the arguments that makes them helpful to constitutional law
experts.

In particular, it requires a willingness to provide sources to support
one's arguments. Please do NOT just make generalized assertions about what
the Framers must surely have wanted, or how they obviously understood
something or other. If you have specific evidence supporting your claims,
CITE IT. Please don't ask us just to trust your general sense of what the
Framers must surely have thought, unless you're a nationally recognized
constitutional historian of the highest magnitude -- and, preferably, not
even then.

        Thanks,

        Eugene
