More police officers should be armed to combat rising gun
crime, MPs said today.
The all-party
parliamentary group on gun crime also said victims and witnesses of gun crime
should be given better protection to encourage more to give evidence in court.

Gun crime has doubled since Labour came to power, with
10,250 offences last year.
Other
recommendations in today's report included raising the minimum age for using air
guns, even on private land, from 14 to 17, and requiring all hospitals and
doctors to report gunshot wounds.
