On the FB 2.5 change log I found:

Fixed bug CORE-2670 : FB 2.5 freezes during data pump operations
But it's not clear to me if that has relation to the input that started
CORE-2670 thread. I am trying to find a way to avoid the posibility to
overriding or deleting the Firebird database file while a classic server is
using it, because if a multi-user application (with embedded FB) that uses
the FB database is running as a service, the final user does not know it is
currently used or not, and lots of times we found users trying to do backup
and/or restore operations while the database is in use.
