HP RISC severs
(OS: HP-UX 10.2 - 11i v3) and Interbase 5.6 have been used for a long time in a
computing system that is maintained and constantly upgrade with new
functionality by department I work for. But now we have to move to new HP
Integrity servers, because HP
stopped selling PA-RISC servers. There are
some issues with Interbase 5.6 use on HP Integrity servers though there are
some means
for running code built for PA-RISC severs on
HP Integrity servers. Now I am just investigating if
Firebird can be used instead Interbase 5.6.
We have HP Integrity
rx2800 i2 server with Intel® Itanium®
processors (see
http://h20341.www2.hp.com/integrity/us/en/entry-class/rx2800-i2-overview.html)
for software development and porting. I’m using it for experiments.
For the computing
system it is planned to use HP Integrity server blades
(http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/blades/components/c-class-integrity-bladeservers.html).
I'll provide more info when I finish investigation and final decision on DB to
be used is made.
