I know abot official repos, but if I go to 
http://www.firebirdsql.org/en/firebird-2-5-2/#Linux_AMD64 and if I'm a 
newcomer to Firebird, maybe I could think there is not a Debian/Ubuntu 
build ... (deb package)

Shouldn't be at least an explanation at the download page?
