Perhaps my vote shouldn't count for too much, but I think plan for ... or plan hint ... makes about as much sense (in terms of natural language/common sense) as optimize for ... That said, I'd vote against "plan for/hint" if the plan clause in its current use is or is soon going to be deprecated. So, what are the plans for the plan clause?
