BTW, restricting access to some subtree and using aliases in 
databases.conf to access files out of that subtree is absolutely legal 
configuration. It was a bug in new auth mapping code. It's fixed and 
committed in SVN. In a day or two you may try snapshot build with 
original firebird.conf.
