I have significant concerns about the way that encryption has been designed / 
implemented.  In fact, I don't recall any proposal of the functionality being 
published for this subject.

It seems that consideration of all database use cases/functionality has not 
taken place and the implementation reflects a single person's vision of 
appropriate functionality.  This exchange has only reinforced my concerns in 
this regard.
