No, two engines will synchronize their access using the same lock table. 
If one of them cannot read that lock table, it will fail. But no 
corruption will happen.

Anyway, the suggested migration approach does not share a database 
between different engines. Older engine will backup the ODS12 database 
and the newer engine will restore the ODS13 database.
