File description on Firebird executables should be specific -----------------------------------------------------------
Key: CORE-5691 URL: http://tracker.firebirdsql.org/browse/CORE-5691 Project: Firebird Core Issue Type: Bug Components: Engine, GBAK, GFIX, GPRE, GSEC, GSTAT, Guardian, ISQL, LOCK_PRINT, NBACKUP, QLI, SVCMGR, TRACEMGR Reporter: Mark Rotteveel Currently all Firebird executables on Windows have the "File description" property set to "Firebird SQL Server" (see properties, details on any executable). These should be made specific to the executable. While testing something I got a "Firebird SQL Server has stopped working", while it was actually ISQL that crashed, and not the server. In comparison, PostgreSQL has a specific description for a lot of utilities, and otherwise defaults to "PostgreSQL utility", only postgres.exe has "PostgreSQL Server" as file description. Proposal: fbguard.exe : "fbguard.exe - Firebird Guardian" fbsvcmgr.exe : "fbsvcmgr.exe - Firebird Service Manager" fbtracemgr.exe : "fbtracemr.exe - Firebird Trace Manager" fb_lock_print.exe : "fb_lock_print.exe - Firebird utility" firebird.exe : "Firebird SQL Server" (as is) gbak.exe: "gbak.exe - Firebird backup" gfix.exe: "gfix.exe - Firebird utility" gpre.exe: "gpre.exe - Firebird preprocessor" gsplit.exe: "gsplit.exe - Firebird utility" gstat.exe: "gstat.exe - Firebird utility" instclient.exe: "instclient.exe - Firebird client installer" instreg.exe: "instreg.exe - Firebird registry installer" instsvc.exe: "instsvc.exe - Firebird service utility" isql.exe: "isql.exe - Firebird CLI" nbackup.exe: "nbackup.exe - Firebird NBackup" qli.exe: "qli.exe - Firebird utility" -- This message is automatically generated by JIRA. - If you think it was sent incorrectly contact one of the administrators: http://tracker.firebirdsql.org/secure/Administrators.jspa - For more information on JIRA, see: http://www.atlassian.com/software/jira ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most engaging tech sites, Slashdot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot Firebird-Devel mailing list, web interface at https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/firebird-devel
