The issue is not philosophical, rather it is "physical".
We have over 80 clients world-wide, running ~140 instances of our application
(Production, Dev and UAT/Testing instances) which *we* are responsible for
managing all aspects of.
Changing version requires extensive testing... both by us and our clients (they
are especially bad at their testing). So, making any change has a significant
"cost".
