A racer told me he and a few of his friends have had problems with them burning out..thanx Larry I got a used distrib with a unilite conversion off e-bay a few years back. I've had no problems. I run it with the stock resistance wire and a ballast resistor. Some say you don't need the resistance wire with the ballast resistor. Also, they sell a filter that you wire in line to limit voltage spikes to the unit (I don't have that). Like I said, I've had no problems and am happy with it in my street cruiser.
