I ran into this on my 74 GTO (the only GTO with a shaker!) so as a
temporary fix I took off the rubber seal that's on the shaker and it
fits ok. I'm not worried about having it water tight since I don't
think I'll ever have it out in the rain but I also don't think that a
little water will bother anything.
I might make a seal out of some thinner foam (like door weather seal
or something).
Also make sure you have the standard Performer and not the RPM since
it's even taller.

anyone know what aluminum intake will work with a 79 TA shaker hood? the
performer on mine is a little too tall..
