You install the gear vendors OD in place of the tail section of the tranny.
They are fairly expensive and you probably have to pull the tranny to
install it anyway. A 2004R is much cheaper and works really well. I
have one in my 69 vert and I'm getting ready to install one in my 67
400 to make it more highway friendly.

Is this something you can do to the existing THM400, or do you need
to replace the entire tranny? Excuse my technical ignorance, but
would love to have an OD put in, but not really looking to replace
the entire tranny.
