I talked with Butler today and they use a cut out pipe that slips over the 
pickup tube and hammer it in. They suggested using a open end wrench if you 
don't have the tool. 3/4" did the trick. I didn't use a vise, just set it on 
top of the bench, used the 3/4" open-end and a hammer. It went in with about 20 
firm taps. Didn't damage or tweak anything so it was a success.
 
Interestingly enough, I looked at my old oil pump and it was bashed in a bit on 
top of the U-tube. Looks like I took a different approach 20 years ago, lol.
