Last year I purchased a flywheel that was supposed to come out of a 1969
Firebird,
I never really looked at it closely. In the meantime I purchased a 10"
clutch-pressure plate kit. I have my original flywheel from my 67 Bird, and
there
is a unique difference in the two flywheels. The one that was supposed to be
out of a 69 Firebird has an inset slot that is about 1/8" inch deep and is
perfect for the 10" disk to set into. The 67 bird flywheel is flat like most
flywheels I have seen. The thickness of the 69 at the ring gear area is
slightly
smaller and of course weighs a little less than the 67. Other than that they
both are identical in overall size, matching bolt holes, etc. Does anyone
know the difference in the applications of both flywheels
