BTW, you really did not need to remove that piece to being with. I removed mine on a vert during the resto process and broke one too. I was putting in new rear shocks this morning and broke off on of the mounting bolts for the top plate on the shock. Were is the top side of the mounting plate? Is there any thing flamable around it?
